Hydrogen-related activities are organized within a subsidiary called "John Cockerill Hydrogen". This entity benefits from:
- Its current position as world leader in the manufacture of electrolysers, with over 25 years' experience,
- A complete range of integrated solutions for hydrogen production and refueling stations,
- Production capacity in Asia and Europe,
- An integrated test laboratory for key electrolysers components.
In order to reinforce our Hydrogen Engineering Team, John Cockerill is looking for a Power Electrical Engineer for its electrolyser’s development activity, contributing to the smooth operation and growth of our business.
Nature and scope of the mission
The Power Electrical Engineer is part of the EAI team, which includes people specialized in industrial electricity, power conversion, automation, and instrumentation.
In close cooperation with the EAI team and the purchasing department, the Power Electrical Engineer designs and implements the DC power supply of the electrolysers, and arounded system (safety, earthing and grounding, etc.), with the aim of continuously optimizing the solutions. He/she is involved in the design of products, proposal, and execution phases, right up to industrial start-up.
More specifically, the Power Electrical Engineer will have to write the specifications (Technique, deadlines, load capacity, maintenance guarantee, ...), define the supply scopes, participate in technical discussions with suppliers (with procurement) and ensure the follow-up of manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of Power Conversion Unit (PCU).
Responsibilities
For product design projects, he/she propose solutions to improve the current list of products and new ones to be developed, by doing the following expected tasks:
- Identify future solution, based on market evolution,
- Identify improvements and/or weaknesses,
- Follow-up new technologies and suppliers’ development to ensure the best technical and economic solution for each of our products.
For proposal projects, he/she provides support to the proposal team by doing the following expected tasks.
- Read and understand the customer’ specifications and establish deviation list between John Cockerill usual solution and the request,
- Consider local regulations and the specific requirements,
- Initiate the basic design documents,
- Define the preliminary purchase specification,
- Ensure boundaries of scope and interfaces with suppliers.
For execution projects, he/she is part of the project team, including all required expertise, and support to the project team by doing the following expected tasks.
- Detailed design for power conversion unit and it’s about techniques, taking into account the local constraints,
- Final specification for purchasing, installation, commissioning, maintenance, guarantee, ...
- Participate actively to weekly project reviews,
- Meetings with customer (weekly follow-up),
- Frequent contact with the product team,
- Follow-up of the drafters on the electrical drawing (room layout or architectures).
As a member of the EAI Team, with good communication skills and the ability to interact with other internal or external teams, he/she may take on the role of EAI Project Lead, knowing that the fields of automation and instrumentation are covered with the help of experts in each of these areas.
Profile
- You have an engineering master in the electrical field,
- You have minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical engineering in an industrial environment,
- Demonstrating an experience and knowledge in the Oil&Gas sector is an asset,
- You have notions of instrumentation (gas) and a technical basis in automation,
- You possess knowledge of the following standards, on top of electrical ones (IEC, NEC):
- Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMC): 2014/30/EU
- Explosive Atmosphere Directives (ATEX) : 2014/34/EU
- API
- You are fluent in English and in French,
- You are proficient in MS office, Teams, and SharePoint,
- Displaying knowledge of software like ETAP is an asset,
- You have a strong and autonomous personality, an entrepreneurial mindset and a will to win,
- You can prioritize and have an excellent sense of organization,
- You are able to work in a team and take responsibilities on several projects in parallel,
- You are adaptable and at ease with evolving in a continuously growing environment.
